I was bored on March 6th, 2021, so I went to the Bakuretsu Festival by myself. I bought a few interesting things, so I'll review one of them.
I bought the M14 EBR from the 4D Dragon Series 1/6 scale rifle model kits, which I already own. It cost 500 yen. The product name was MK14.
I think the store where I bought it was Kikiya (sorry if I'm wrong). I couldn't find their website, so I don't know the details.
First, when I tried to research the product details for this blog post, I found it very confusing. I have no idea which part of the name is the manufacturer or which series it belongs to (is it the 4D MODEL series?).
The only thing I found out was that it's available at Repmart. It seems that sets with multiple types are also available on Amazon.
Outer case
Let's take a look at the outer box.
Front
It looks a bit suspicious. For some reason, the image is CG. It's labeled as a 4D MODEL GUN.
側面
All I could understand was that it was made in China.
裏面
It probably contains a description of the MK14.
However, it seems unusual to see so many people using only Chinese in today's international community.
I believe airsoft guns and model guns are regulated by law in China, but what about model kits? Conversely, is there a demand for scale models in China precisely because they are regulated?
Unpacking, contents, assembly
Now let's open it and see what's inside.
The contents are even cooler than the picture on the box. I think that's a pretty rare pattern.
The contents included the main unit, a scope, foregrip, suppressor, a PEQ15 lookalike, a bipod, and two magazines.
Incidentally, this was all there was; there were no instructions whatsoever. It's a Spartan design.
Let's take a look at the parts that caught my attention.
Receiver and barrel
Vertical
The barrel angle is off and the fit is poor, which is bad. There's also a lot of excess plastic left on the runner. I'll take it apart later, file it down, and glue it back together.
The burrs on the suppressor are also quite impressive.
As you can see, every single part had burrs. The parting lines were also quite impressive. I wish they would sell them all attached to the sprue, but I suppose that's not possible due to painting considerations.
Since I had the opportunity, I decided to sand it with #3000 grit sandpaper to remove burrs and eliminate parting lines.
I was able to remove the burrs, but the parting lines were so bad I gave up on trying to get rid of them. I could paint it, but that's too much trouble, so I'll just assemble it as is.
I apologize for not having pictures of the assembly process, but the fit of the parts isn't very good. Adjustments are needed.
Also, the bipod and foregrip are optional and cannot be attached simultaneously.
By the way, I don't recommend choosing a foregrip. That's because it can only be attached to the very tip of the lower receiver, and realistically, it's practically impossible to attach it there. You can't reach it.

Surprisingly, the cocking lever is movable.
Next, I placed it next to the G&G M14 EBR LONG.
Different angles
It's pointless because it doesn't appear in a single frame at all. Furthermore, I'm quite skeptical about whether it's really 1/6 scale.
Finally, I placed it next to a dummy 7.62mm NATO cartridge for comparison.

I think it looks cool if you look at it from a little distance.
Summary
It's of Chinese quality from a bygone era, for better or for worse, but since it only cost 500 yen, I don't feel like I've been ripped off.
However, I wouldn't exactly call it a good purchase.
I think it's perfect for use at your desk. It would look great as an interior decoration for your office desk or home workspace.
A competing product is the Tomytec Little Armory series, but I don't own any yet, so I'll try buying some sometime. Of course, the scales are different, so it won't be a direct comparison. And naturally, the price is less than half.
The good thing about this model is that, being 1/6 scale, it's a bit large and not ideal as a companion to figures, but it certainly has a presence. The quality isn't great, though.
