Parts selection
I want to keep using the same gears, so I'll aim to improve response and cycle rate by changing the motor.
I chose the Lonex A1 motor. I splurged on it.

The endbell looks like this.

Let's compare it to the Inazuma motor and pinion from Airsoft97 that I used last time.

The comparison results are inconclusive, so I'll just use it as is for now.
I also bought a silver brush to further increase the durability of the existing brush.

Apparently, it extends the lifespan. I'm putting up my own advertisements, but to be honest, if you look for it at a shop or if you buy it for RC cars, it's cheap, around 900 yen.
Let's assemble it quickly.

The motor is ready, so I'll install it.
I expect the Ronex A1 motor to significantly increase rotational speed and torque, so I'll cut just one tooth off the sector gear as a precaution.
This time, we'll cut one tooth off the release side. Cutting the pull side could worsen the response. We decided to cut the teeth on the release side because the piston release timing is within the acceleration port, so the impact should be minimal.

This is what the cut surface looks like.

I'll readjust the shims since the pinion gear is changing.

The Lonex motor had a gap between it and the motor holder, causing it to rattle, so I used masking tape to eliminate the gap.
Since I've already opened the gearbox, I'll modify the nozzle to fix the hop-up issue that's been bothering me a bit.
Attach the nozzle to a rotary tool and use it like a lathe to shave it down with a file and sandpaper.


Insert it into the chamber and check the amount of tripping.

There's a catch here later, but I didn't notice it at the time and was just aggressively filing away.
Next, we'll assemble it and do a test firing.

I connect the battery and dry-fire it. There's a grinding noise from the pinion gears.
As others have mentioned, the pinion gears from Ronex are quite noisy.
Gathering all my strength, I measure the muzzle velocity with a chronograph. The measurement conditions are the same as always.

I don't even have the energy to measure the cycle.
The cause was quickly identified. It was an air leak in the chamber section due to excessive grinding of the nozzle. A simplified diagram would look like this.

I got carried away and filed down the nozzle tip too much. And upon closer inspection, I noticed a problem specific to the Kriss Vector.
First, because the cylinder and nozzle are at an acute angle, the tappet plate is divided into two parts. Since the two divided tappet plates are operated via a link as shown in the photo, clearance is required between the parts, and the tappet was not moving all the way to the edge of the hole.

In other words, I realized that the amount of tappet advancement cannot be determined until all the moving parts are assembled.

The Kriss Vector's nozzle and tappets are bent at an angle to recreate its distinctive V-shape.
The tappet angle is changed using a link plate.
Because the tappet is made up of multiple parts.The tappet's furthest forward position with the link plate removed is different from its forward position with the plate attached. This is not due to poor precision, but rather an unavoidable design choice to compensate for part tolerances.
Because the nozzle position was being adjusted without the plate, the tip of the nozzle did not reach the opening of the hop packing, resulting in an air leak.
Taking these issues (pinion gear noise, nozzle air leak) into consideration,We'll customize it. To be continued.
